WinFOREX

WinFOREX consists of a series of PC based interactive self-study aids designed specifically with the ACI candidate in mind. WinFOREX is however equally appropriate for more general product education and financial market training for Treasury personnel.

The WinFOREX software follows the current syllabuses and examination formats as published by ACI – The Financial Markets Association. The software is being continuously updated following recent announcements from ACI regarding revisions to all syllabuses, examination formats and marking methodology for the electronically delivered ACI examinations. The modules’ multiple choice ACI and ACI-style question and answer databases along with all accompanying texts have been updated during the year and are available to purchase via the website online shop.

The WinFOREX interactive training software features dynamic on-screen feedback for all multiple-choice questions and during use reference can be made to an interactive Excel spreadsheet of ACI formulae to check calculations and a screen-viewable accompanying text for further explanation. The post-test WinFOREX debriefing reports have many uses including as an aid to dealer selection and assessment and are printable in the Site licence version of the product.

The ACI Dealing Certificate New Version (June 2022), ACI Operations Certificate New Version (June 2022) and the ACI Diploma New Version (December 2019) syllabuses and examination formats have been redesigned around five topics covering the full range of foreign exchange and precious metals, interest rate and derivative markets including theory questions and practical exercises on all instruments traded plus theory questions on the overall financial markets environment and applications – specifically risk and risk management issues. The WinFOREX software product is structured in a way to assist the individual candidate in his/her self-study and is a natural accompaniment to the company’s published textbooks Global Financial markets and the ACI Dealing Certificate New Version and Treasury Operations Handbook (5th Edition) - for the ACI Operations Certificate. The PC based Single User licence software product, aimed at the pocket of the individual candidate, is sold on a 'Single user licence', one load plus 100 accesses to a database of over 1,700+ ACI Dealing Certificate New Version 2024, 1,100+ ACI Operations Certificate New Version 2024 and 1,650+ interactive questions and answers for the ACI Diploma New Version 2024. All 'SUL' modules of the software have the ability to create random generated, correctly weighted and marked ‘mock’ (trial) examinations plus an interactive Excel spreadsheet of ACI formulae and a screen-viewable accompanying text (printable locally for Module DIP NV).

The original WinFOREX product has been available since 1996 and has been sold to institutions and candidates on a world-wide basis and many examination successes have been recorded - including a large number of distinctions and passes with merit in the ACI Dealing Certificate, ACI Operations Certificate and ACI Diploma. There is also a module for the ACI FX Global Code Certificate (WinFOREX module FXGC).

The WinFOREX product, written under MS Windows, is now delivered on an installation USB. Although not designed for Apple Mac, along with many other MS programs, it will run under Parallels Desktop 19 (separately available to purchase from www.parallels.com).

Even a candidate who is actively involved in the day to day financial markets needs a certain amount of revision and assistance in exam techniques to ensure he/she is fully prepared for the examination - where WinFOREX is so useful. The PC based approach replicating the electronic delivery format of the examination proper makes WinFOREX UNIQUE and even more relevant to a candidate’s training and revision requirements giving him/her the ability to "hone" their question management techniques to maximise their use of time in the real life examination. The software brings the candidate up to speed in all aspects of the syllabuses and the differing examination techniques required for the ACI Dealing Certificate New Version (Module DC NV), ACI Operations Certificate New Version (Module OPS NV), ACI FX Global Code Certificate (Module FXGC)* and ACI Diploma New Version (Module DIP NV) - all screen based multiple choice question formats (varying examination time limits and numbers of questions).

The WinFOREX system

In all modules of WinFOREX interactive question libraries permit the user to test overall understanding selecting any number of questions at random, on a syllabus topic by topic basis or by creating a full “mock” (trial) examination. The trainee’s preferred system access is selected on each occasion via the test selection screen (figure 2 - ACI Dealing Certificate DC NV as an example).  

Depending on the Module. multiple choice answer ACI and ACI-style examination questions are displayed as selected (figure 3) with the trainee having the option to answer or pass (for later review). When an answer has been selected and confirmed the system will respond - if correct... a smiley face and congratulations, if incorrect... a sad face with dynamic on-screen feedback on the correct answer available on selection of the button. A Brief explanation of the correct answer is also displayed in the lower blue section of the screen.

If ACI EXAM Is selected a completely different set of questions is random generated on each access (40 for the ACI FX Global Code Certificate, 70 for the ACI Dealing Certificate New Version and ACI Operations Certificate New Version and 100 for the ACI Diploma New Version. Each mock exam is correctly weighted and marked (topic by topic) for which, rather than instant on-screen feed-back after each question, on completion of the test a comprehensive topic by topic results display is produced (figure 4 – following correct ACI marking methodology) with the opportunity to return to the examination and review questions attempted one by one on-screen with dynamic feedback.

WinFOREX modules also incorporate an interactive Excel based spreadsheet utility (figure 5) including all ACI formulae (hard copy available to candidates during the examination) which can be invoked from the main test screen for use by candidates to assist understanding of data elements required to complete syllabus calculations - vital preparation and revision for the calculation question baskets in all examinations.

For further reference, per module dynamic screen responses and hard-copy debriefing and assessment reports (Site licence) are complemented by a comprehensive accompanying text *  (476 pages for the ACI Dealing Certificate New Version) available as a screen-viewable pdf file via the book icon on the test screen and a printable System guide on the WinFOREX installation USB.
